Day 1 of UK’s Longest Bike Ride: 99.8 miles out of 1,100

Well done for the first day!! 99.8 miles in 7 hours 32 minutes. Average speed 13.23, 5107 calories burned and 5,909 feet ascended – higher than Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, at 4,409 ft.

The map below shows where they travelled, and the video shows stills taken every mile for 99 miles along the route.  If you want to know what the route looks like, watch the video.

The video uses GPS data from my wife’s iPhone to pinpoint where she was every mile.  This was then cross referenced to Google Maps and then using Google Street View I pulled out the relevant photo and direction of travel and stitched into a video.  I was exhausted by stitching the stills together – imagine how tiring it must have been to actually cycle the route!
