Very interesting article from the NYT as part of its iEconomy series.  Key message is that advances in robotics allows robots to do very complex tasks that were historically only possible with human hands – low wage human hands.  In one example a Phillips factory in Holland is producing electric shavers, using a tenth of the number of people required in their sister factory in China.

While great for Western workers, the overall number of workers needed is going down for the job, which will have an impact in the West and in China.
