Natural Resources

There are a lot of great books about natural resources and climate change. Natural Capitalism by Paul Hawken is the grandfather of the connection between capitalism and the environment. It is also important to me as I met Paul whilst at Cambridge University and did some research for this book. Paul made me realise that it was not enough to be an environmentalist - you needed to create profitable companies that were self sustaining to make real change.

There Is No Planet B: A Handbook for the Make or Break Years. by Mike Berners-Lee and The Uninhabitable Earth: A Story of the Future David Wallace-Wells are thoroughly depressing to read but worth reading none the less. Read them with a good bottle of wine by your side. This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate by Naomi Klein. Naomi is another very popular writer and is a key critic of capitalism in general. In this book she discovers climate change.

On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection: By Charles Darwin - Illustrated by Charles Darwin. Darwin is surprisingly readable. The Vital Question: Why is life the way it is? by Nick Lane. Nick is an enthusiastic writer and in The Vital Question he asks how life evolved.   The Universe Within: A Scientific Adventure by Neil Shubin. Everything by Neil is great. Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. Yuval is quite a ubiquitous writer and I have seen his books on the shelves of a number of friends. Sapeins is probably his best work.

There are so many good books here. Enjoy them all!
